Zhu Zhu Pets

Kelli | November 13, 2009

Ok. I have a rant that I want to get off of my chest! I saw a commercial with my daughter the other day for these Zhu Zhu pets. She told me that she would like those for Christmas. When I saw it, I thought to myself how cute they were and she LOVES little animals that she can carry around with her. What little did I know that those are the “Hot Item” for Christmas this year.

I ran over to my local Walmart to see what they had. If you look online (Walmart) the animals cost about $8.00 a piece. Great price!!! When my husband and I went in, they were out of stock of course. We had to wait in a crowd of people to find out from the employee when another shipment would be in. They had quit a few accessories which we bought. I thought, well lets just pick these up so when the animals come in we will already have some accessories to go with them.

I come home and start searching the Internet to find out that people are selling them on Amazon or Ebay and are charging an astronomical amount of money. Really??? You want to charge me $59.00 for a little electric pet that I can buy at Walmart for $8.00?? (Eventually). Also, they are charging a bunch of $$ for the accessories that they had a wall full of at Walmart.

It’s irritating to me that consumers get ripped off because a specific item is popular! I would love to get it for my daughter because she really doesn’t ask for much for the holidays. However, I will not cave in to greedy retailers that want to make a bunch of money because they know that an item is “Hot” for that season. I guarantee you, just like ALL the other toys that this happened in the past with. Come December 26th, those same $8.00 items that are going for over $60.00 dollars and up to $100.00 will be on sale for about $5.00.

I haven’t decided what I will do with the accessories if I don’t get a Zhu Zhu pet. I may just give them to my daughter and tell her that she will get to pick out the pet that she wants to go with the accessories. Or, She will get a late Christmas gift. =)

Thanks for reading my rant. Just for everyones information…

Here is what the Zhu Zhu pets and accessories normally go for:
