We were really excited about our visit to EVT. That soon changed after being there after a short while. First of all, SUPER loud in there with the games on too. Talk about stimulus overload. The seating really sucked there too. There were tables near the lanes, but were filled with people who were there to chow down and watch the game. I thought that’s what the main area of the bar/restaurant was for. WTF? So that left the bowlers with really no place to sit. The 4 of us had to switch off sitting with the available to seats.

The service. Wow. It took us a game and a half of bowling to get someone to take our order, even after flagging 3 people down (just to be told “that’s not my section”). Took another 30 minutes to get our drinks. Our food came without utensils, napkins or extra plates as requested. It took another 20 minutes for that. And when we did actually manage to flag servers down, we were let known, in not so many words, that we were being a burden on them. Customer service fail.

Then the open patio constantly being used by chain smokers. The air would waft into the area where we were sitting. There was a couple times we had asked the people if they minded if we shut the door because of the smoke. We were rudely denied. DOUCHES! We had asked the servers about it and were given the cold shoulder about it as well.

Overall, not a very good experience. Don’t know if I would have to rush back anytime soon. If I want to go bowling, I will go to a bowling alley, not the mini me version downtown.

    Dustin-

My name is Chris Hyslop and I am the general manager here at East Village Tavern & Bowl. It is very disconcerting for me to read about a guest who had such a miserable experience at my establishment, and I am truly sorry that you had to endure such a poor level of service. I would like to find out some further details about your visit so that I may take the necessary steps to ensure that this does not happen again. I would also suggest that in the future, in order to rectify the situation in a more timely manner, please ask for a manager on duty so that we may do what it takes to have you leave as a happy guest. My e-mail address is listed below for your convenience.

    Thank you.

I just wanted to follow up on my review. Shortly after I posted my review on AllTurdReality, I had a comment (above) from the general manager of East Village Tavern and Bowl. He was very concerned about how me and my party were treated at his establishment. He made sure he had all the facts, rectified the situation, made sure his staff was made aware of the situation and offered a free game of bowling for our next visit. Thank you Chris for making good on a not so fun situation. Thank you for stepping up to the plate and showing that there still is good customer service out there. Thank you AllTurdReality for providing the platform. Win!
